There were also two predecessors of the present church. Around 1677 a new manse and church were built, because the old church was under decay. This old church is mentioned in 1249, in an ancient taxation document. At the east end of the church is the burial-aisle of the Frasers of Durris, the oldest inscribed date being 1594. The two silver communion cups were gifted to the Church of Durris in 1694.
Durris Church is named St Comgall's Church, after St Comgall of Bangor, Ireland, who lived from 517 to 601AD, and was a companion of St Columba. In 1987, Durris Church was linked with Drumoak Church, sharing the one Minister. On January 1st 2002, the two churches were united as Drumoak-Durris Church.
There is one Kirk Session and Congregational Board, and two places of worship.
