World famous star Doug Horley visited Drumoak-Durris

World famous star visits Drumoak-Durris Church!On the wet weekend of November 21st/22nd Doug Horley, the internationally known Christian children’s performer, evangelist and song writer, came to Drumoak-Durris Church with four of his team for a weekend of fabulous activities.
On Saturday afternoon he led a training seminar for those who work with children and young people within the Church. It was attended by thirty six people from Drumoak-Durris but also from churches as far afield as Ballater and Aberdeen. Doug shared his tips for leading worship with children and also taught us some songs using British Sign Language as well as some funky dance moves! He encouraged us to keep on reaching out to our children and challenged us not just to have fun together but to help the children deepen their relationship with Jesus.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the Family Praise Party on Saturday evening. About 130 people, from the church and wider community, braved the weather for an evening packed with music, dance, amazing puppets, illusions and breakdancing which could make your eyes pop out! It was a fun and funky evening not to mention an excellent workout for the young and not quite so young who attended! It also gave the children a chance to show Doug that we knew some of his songs and dance moves from our summer Holiday Bible Club. Doug talked about Jesus and how much He loves us, leaving us all with food for thought.
On Sunday morning Doug led an all-age worship service at Drumoak. It was great to see so many children and families coming along. There was more breakdancing, illusions and a couple of crazy sheep, as well as a chance to hear God speaking to us afresh through Doug’s message. Wow!! A brilliant time was had by all!
