Kirk Session takes the Minister out to lunch

On Sunday August 15th 2010, the Drumoak-Durris Kirk Session hosted a luncheon for Rev and Mrs Scott, more informally known to us all as “Jim and Roz”. The occasion was to say a very sincere thank you to them both for the work they have done over the past 19 years in sustaining our congregation. We had a near complete turnout of Elders (23 of 25) and 12 of their spouses.

The lunch was held at the Falls of Feugh restaurant which, as its name implies, is on the banks of the River Feugh, near where it enters the Dee. The setting is beautiful, the weather was perfect, the company convivial and the feelings of warmth and companionship flooded the atmosphere. The food was superb, the more so because we knew the provenance of the roast beef which had come from the herd of one of our Elders. Our Session Clerk gave a speech, highlighting the Rev Scott’s and indeed some of Roz’s backgrounds and summarising their achievements at Drumoak-Durris Church. The Rev Scott’s reply was ex tempore and, as with hkis sermons, straight to the point with a well appreciated touch of humour. If ever a lunch celebrated Christian fellowship then surely this one did.
