Sunday 9th January service led by Rev Bill Wallace

Drumoak-Durris Church's service on Sunday 9th January was led by the Rev Bill Wallace. We've been very fortunate with our supply ministers while we search for a replacement for JimScott. The Rev Iain Brown takes many of the services and has become a much loved presence in our church; in addition we've had the Rev Helen Hamilton and the Rev Alison Hutchison to call on.

Bill was a dentist before he received the call to the ministry and served in Glasgow and Ethopia before ministering in Wick for 34 years. The service today had some rousing hymns - newer ones from Graham Hendrick and finishing with Hymn 352 "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" which is a classic Charles Wesley hymn which gave our better singers ample scope to show their abilities.

The New Testament reading was from John, Chapter 1, reading from v1 to v18. Bill led us through the meaning of this passage, linking it to the present-day referendum in Southern Sudan which is of crucial importance to the Christian community in that benighted country.

If you're reading this brief description of our service and wondering if church is for you - the only way to find out is to come along. We look forward to seeing you.
