This is a 20 strong group which is very much alive and attuned to the world around it; a very good example being the sponsored sleep-outs in aid of the Cyrenians which have raised thousands of pounds for the homeless over the past 5 years.
How many secondary schoolchildren get the chance to work on projects in Malawi or in Romania? Not many - but ours do !! Could you plan and run a church service? Our YSunday members can .... and do!
Here's a YSunday 2011 - 2012 update
We went bowling at Codona's on Sunday 16th October.
YSunday is meeting in November (4th and 20th) at the Drumoak Church Hall at 7pm to plan our Christingle service, our contributions to the 175 Anniversary of Drumoak Church, and our involvement in the regular church service on the 18th.
During December, YSunday will be conducting its annual Christingle Service on the 4th of December at 7pm and taking part in the running of the regular service on Sunday the 18th (Durris Church, 11am).
YSunday’s social Christmas meal will be a potluck on the evening of Sunday the 18th. Bring your favourite part of the Christmas meal and help us celebrate! Location to be announced.
YSunday's activities and discussions are led by older members of the YSunday group and organised/supported by Trish Amundrud (trish.amundrud@gmail.com and 01330 811696). All secondary school students are very welcome as we look forward to an exciting winter/spring 2012.
General background
50p is requested from each member per meeting as a donation towards YSunday’s chosen charity
What else can we say? YSunday members help with Sunday Club and the Holiday Bible Club; run the church service on occasions; run discos for children in
the local community with proceeds going to overseas charities chosen by the children. Junior leaders themselves help organise the activities and programme.
There are social and sporting activities too, such as trips to the Compass Christian Centre in Glenshee which is well equipped for skiing and as shown has a great climbing wall.
Perhaps the pinnacle of achievement is the participation in our Overseas Missions projects to Malawi in 2005 and to Romania in 2009. These projects provided demanding opportunities to stretch our YSunday members' abilities and to make a real difference to people's lives. You really have to talk to some of the YSunday members who've been on either the Malawi project or the Romania project; these were tough projects involving hard work and difficult conditions. See the Overseas Missions page on this site.
